Yesterday, Memorial Day, Rockie and Thom Kainz once again shared a beautiful remembrance of those who gave all in service to our wonderful country. The service was held at the Veterans Memorial Garden.
Rockie greeted those in attandance:
“Thank you for attending our Camp Florida service to participate in Taps Across America. There are thousands of gatherings just like this one taking place right now, all across our country. Think about that. Seldom do we all agree on anything, but at this moment, there are thousands of our fellow Americans who are taking just a few minutes to remember all those that gave their lives so we are free to celebrate this day! Our nation will remain the land of the free only as long as it is the home of the brave. We must honor those brave soldiers by living our lives in such a way that we are worthy of their sacrifice.
I now want to draw your attention to the US flag. Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it.
I’ll end with a quote from Bob Dylan: ‘A hero is someone who understands the responsibility that comes with his freedom.'”
There was then silence until 3:00 when Taps was performed by Thom.
