It’s a Bird…It’s a Plane…It’s a Rocket?

Evenings down by Grassy Lake can be very interesting and exciting. Monday was one such evening!

Of course, there were birds…

It’s a plane… The two small planes were refueling the large plane. Look closely and you can see the boom (if that is the correct term) hanging from the wing of the large plane.

It’s a rocket! A crowd gathered for the SpaceX launch, and it was visible for a while. Then it disappeared and left beautiful contrails in the evening sky.

A New House at Camp Florida!

About a week ago, Tom Scott put up a Purple Martin house near the shore of Grassy Lake. He put a decoy bird on top to attract the birds to their home. The problem was, they didn’t like the decoy. The kept dive-bombing it, knocking it crooked.

Well, this morning, bright and early, Tom took the decoy off the house, and guess what? The Purple Martins are so happy. Here are some photos from this last evening and this evening. They are now exploring and trying to decide which little nooks are their favorites.

Once again The News-Sun Did a Great Job Covering our Special Event
